I've tried to load the new beta on my laptop and it goes through all the loading of modules, then it says loading user interface, then it either crashes or shows a scene and then crashes on the transition.

Try newer drivers maybe needs opengl .14

Yep, that solved the problem. I had upgraded to the latest Toshiba drivers, but got the NVidia drivers.
