resolution

hi there can anyone tell me how these viz look at 800 x 600 as opposed to 1024 x 768???
i am looking at purchasing about 5 projectors and the price difference between these 2 resolutions is huge. and i don't wanna buy 800 x 600 if these viz will look like pong
any response would be great thanks

I ran R4 on a 1024x768 Barco 8100 projector in January and it looked absolutely fantastic. You are going to notice a slight quality loss at the lower resolution, but even as low as 800x600 should look fine. It's 640x480 projectors I'd be worried about, quality-wise.
It also depends how big the projection surface is and how far away your audience is. You can project on the wall of a building, but if the audience is as far away from the wall as the projector, it'll look fine.

A lot of people use TV resolution, which is less than 800x600. If your audience are stoned you could play it on an 8x8 projector and they wouldn't know....
although I do usually say go for quality. If you have a good video card and you turn on anti-aliasing (also use pbuffers and set the texture size up to 1024x1024) the quality will be better on 800x600 than the standard setup at 1024x768.
