works great on my 9800pro.
Not sure what all the fuss is about regarding the problems some people are experiencing!

That would be because most of R4's main graphics code was re-written so it didn't use the bits of OpenGL that caused ATI cards to behave badly and/or crash. If you turn on the pbuffer extension option and restart you may find that even after years of driver development by ATI, R4 still causes the driver to crash.
